Debby and Greg had hired me as their Savannah elopement photographer for their modest wedding in Whitfield Square with a handful of guests planned before Hurricane Matthew changed all that. I kept in phone contact with Debby while I waited out the storm in Statesboro. They were both so understanding and supportive of me, of Tybee Island and of Savannah while the plans they had made so many months ago were still uncertain.
With two such kind people and supportive guests, rescheduling was a breeze and when it came to the day they couldn’t have hoped for nicer weather. It surprised me that not only was the gazebo in Whitfield Square unharmed but only a few branches had fell in the square due to the storm.
There was a moment shortly after their ceremony that they shared a beautiful exchange. The photo where both Debby and Greg are looking up and taking in the square is that moment. I heard Debby softly say to Greg, “Look how amazing this place is!” Tears started to fill Debby’s eyes as they looked around in awe. I saw in their faces what we’ve all felt when we first fell in love with Savannah. I’m so grateful they got to fall in love with Savannah too.
