Wormsloe Historic State Park Photo Session and The Secrets to a Great Experience

Wormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe photo sessions stand out as my personal favorites, offering a truly enchanting experience. However, it’s important to acknowledge that Wormsloe might not be the ideal location for every client. In this guide, I’ll help you assess whether this locale suits your needs and share tips on how to make the most of your photo session.

To ensure the best conditions for my clients, I typically limit sessions at Wormsloe to one per day. Scheduling your session shortly after the 9 a.m. opening addresses the majority of challenges faced in the afternoon.Wormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionA crucial factor to consider is the main dirt road, where the most sought after iconic photos are taken, also serves as a pathway for vehicles. If you have young ones who may take some time to get into the groove, especially on the road, this location could potentially cause stress for parents.

Drawing from over 15 years of experience at Wormsloe, I’ve found that the morning back light from the main gate produces the most visually pleasing results. Opting for a morning session reduces traffic, resulting in cleaner backdrops void of unwanted man-made elements in your shots like parking cones and cars that afternoon sessions must contend with.Wormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWhile a recent client initially voiced a preference for an afternoon session, the reality of competing with several other families and  couples for photos along with the sticky afternoon heat they were quickly converted to preferring a morning session in the future.Wormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionWormsloe Family Photo SessionThe photos I am including in this post are from a Wormsloe couples session I did with a sweet couple and their show-stealing Golden Doodle Leo. We enjoyed an intimate experience with minimal traffic and only one other couple having their own session as well during our morning shoot in early June. Also worth noting, Wormsloe just closed the main gate and just passed it is the new entrance and new building for greeting visitors. A shuttle service now conveniently transports guests to prime photo locations, while entrance and photo fees remain unchanged.
